Voice typing is the overlap. It is not the same product.
On Device AI's voice-typing guide describes the familiar loop: press a trigger key on a Mac, speak, and polished text is typed into email, Slack, or an editor. On iPhone, a custom keyboard does the same. Correction modes include Cleanup, Rewrite, Translate, and Literal, and rewrite can use local Llama or a cloud model.
VeloxWaves is that desktop loop as the whole product: hold the shortcut, local speech recognition, insert at the cursor. There is no cloud rewrite provider to attach. Formatting stays conservative so the words you spoke are the words that land.

On Device AI runs GGUF and MLX models on Apple hardware, imports documents into Knowledge Libraries, records meetings with speaker labels, and can opt into 19+ cloud APIs. That is a private ChatGPT alternative, not only a dictation utility.
